Membership Fees Reduced Again

While the cost of living rises, your membership dues continue to fall for Montgomery County Medical Society members.

The MCMS Board of Directors unanimously approved a Finance Committee recommendation to continue lowering county medical society dues to $160 per year, the lowest for county medical societies of its size in Pennsylvania.

“We hope to provide value to our members without breaking the bank,” said board chairman Scott E. Shapiro MD. “Every bit helps in these tough economic times and physicians are not immune. We don’t want membership fees to be a hindrance to engagement.”

For the past four years, MCMS members have received a 10 percent discount in membership dues.

Dr. Shapiro added that this reduction is one step closer to a dues-free medical society.

“To have each physician in Montgomery County engaged as a member of the medical society would be a true testament to the strength of the practice of medicine,” Shapiro said.

Additionally, the board will continue to support a pilot membership campaign to offer reductions to small and large groups. A five percent discount will be provided to physician groups 3-29 with a 100 percent membership for 2012, similar to the current discount offered by the state medical society. State medical society dues remain at $395. For more information, contact your medical society, (610) 878-9530.
