MCMS Strategic Plan in Action

In 2008, the Board of Directors of MCMS took a closer examination of member resources and benefits, in the hopes to further develop programs that would engage active members and encourage nonmembers to join. MCMS leaders agreed that they wanted to:

  • Infuse new leadership into MCMS by reorganizing and focusing on issues critical to the future of health care in Montgomery County
  • To improve MCMS’ public relations among physicians and to the public
  • To establish a formal, active relationship with Montgomery County government officials
  • To educate physicians on the logistics of influencing change
  • To set priorities that will focus MCMS activities on those issues most critical to the future of medicine within the county
  • To evaluate MCMS’ relationship with other county medical societies in PA.
After four months of evaluation and small work group discussions, the MCMS board refined the strategic goals and developed action plans for each of the visions:
  • Go to” source for physician practice concerns in Montgomery County – for both independent and employed physicians
  • Viewed as a key health care advocate in the greater Montgomery County community
  • Influential in advancing medicine’s concerns to Montgomery County’s local, state, and federal public officials.
For each vision, specific goals were identified and three task forces were created to address and implement the goals– Member Services & Benefits, Public Relations and Political. Members can review the strategic plan by contacting the MCMS executive director. Members are encouraged to serve on the various task forces.
